Elijah Zarwan is a writer, editor, and researcher. He has worked as a senior analyst at International Crisis Group, as a senior fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations, as Egypt researcher for Human Rights Watch, as a wire journalist and magazine editor based in Cairo and New York, and as a consultant to Amnesty International, Transparency International, the Small Arms Survey, the Carter Center, IHS, and elsewhere. He speaks and reads Arabic and French. He currently lives in New York City. His hobbies include studying Chinese martial arts, chess, music, and Wolof.
